After roughly 1.5 years, the company updated its ROG Strix Scar series. This lineup, which combines a portable form factor with all the gaming power, is the brand’s most expensive offering. Prices for the base variant of the Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 (2024), which we are reviewing today, start at Rs 289,990. The more expensive, higher-specced model costs Rs 329,990.By contrast, the base price of the previous year’s offerings was Rs 2,79,990, while the top variant cost Rs 3,59,990.
Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 (2024) design and display
The Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 is a massive, reliable machine with a substantial build, just as one might expect. It receive some cosmetic upgrades but retains the same matte blackish-grey exterior treatment as last year’s model. Asus refer to the design of the lid as the ROG Slash design, which features a diagonal strip that reads “Republic of Gamers” and runs from top left to bottom right.
The larger, centrally located touchpad makes navigating larger displays easier, and there are five programmable macro-keys on the keyboard. Long periods of time can be spent with your palms resting comfortably on the keyboard thanks to its ample space.
A stunning display matches the sturdy construction. 16-inch QHD (2560×1600) Mini LED display with 240Hz refresh rate, 500 nits brightness, and 16:10 aspect ratio is included with the Asus ROG Strix Scar 16. The webcam is slightly protruded at the top, and it has thin borders on three sides.
In addition, it supports Nvidia’s G-Sync technology, Panton validation, full DCI-P3 colour gamut reproduction, and Dolby Vision playback for streaming over-the-top (OTT) apps. All of these features effectively certify the display as meeting Asus’ ROG Nebula standards.
Because of its large size, the laptop has a wide keyboard and a number pad on the touchpad. Long tapping “NUMLK” on the touchpad will activate the numpad. Controls for the microphone, volume, and performance mode are available via buttons. You can customise these buttons to perform different functions. The keyboard’s travel distance is 2.0 mm, and the keys are comparatively quiet.
The laptop has two USB 3.2 (Gen2) Type-A ports on the right side for connectivity. On the right side, there is a full-sized HDMI 2.1 port, a Type-C port, a Thunderbolt 4 (Type-C) port, a headphone/microphone combo socket, a Gigabit LAN, and a power socket. A large exhaust vent in the back forces the head out. In addition, a 720p webcam, Bluetooth v5.3, and Wi-Fi 6E 2×2 are included.

Along with 2TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD storage (2x 1TB SSDs in RAID 0), the CPU is matched with 32GB (2x 16GB) of DDR5 5600MHz RAM.The Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 (2024) has an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 laptop GPU with 12GB of GDDR6 RAM to manage the GPU workload.
The gaming laptop uses the ROG Intelligent Cooling Ecosystem, which consists of three fans with closely spaced fins and a full-width heatsink running along the spine, to keep the apparatus cool. In addition, Asus chose full-surround vents and a liquid metal compound for heat dissipation rather than the conventional thermal paste.

The Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 (2024) is a gaming laptop, so battery life is not particularly impressive. When downloading games with the lowest possible display brightness, the laptop only managed a maximum runtime of two hours.
