Although the iPhone 7 is now outdated, if you still own one, Apple may give you up to $349, or about Rs 29,000, in exchange. In order to resolve a lawsuit filed in the US regarding issues with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, Apple has agreed to pay $35 million. Apple claims that a chip malfunction inside the phones is the cause of these audio-related problems. Currently, Apple is emailing those who could receive a payout from this settlement.Notably, this is not intended for Indian residents.
You may be eligible for financial assistance if you were a US resident and owned an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus between September 16, 2016, and January 3, 2023. This is applicable if you experienced issues with your phone’s audio at that time and either paid Apple to resolve the issue or fixed it on your own.
“If you owned an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus between September 16, 2016 and January 3, 2023, and you either complained to Apple regarding an issue covered by the Settlement or paid Apple for a repair or replacement covered by the Settlement, you may be included in this Settlement as a member of the “Settlement Class” and entitled to receive a payment called the “Class Payment.”
Sending an email to info@smartphoneaudiosettlement.com will allow you to attempt to claim money even if you believe you are not eligible. However, you must complete this task by June 3. In addition, you have the option to decide how you will be compensated should you decide not to participate in the settlement or disagree with it. Once more, though, you must complete this by June 3. Further information about this is available on the website of the settlement.
Refund amount
Refunds of up to $349 are possible if you paid Apple to fix your iPhone due to these audio problems. A maximum of $125 was available to others who experienced issues but did not cover the cost of repairs. Remember, though, that these sums are not yet assured. This settlement requires court approval in California, and it must happen by July 18 at the latest.
Many from various states in the United States sued Apple in 2019 over this issue. They claimed that in addition to breaking consumer protection laws, Apple had broken its word regarding its phones. Apple maintains their innocence despite the fact that they are settling. Moreover, the court has not determined who is correct—Apple or the plaintiffs in their lawsuit.
