The Oppo F17 pro was launched last year. The phone is still available and it is a solid phone in 2021 too. The phone has a plastic back and Gorilla Glass upfront. The display is 6.43 inches and is of AMOLED type. The resolution is 1080 x 2400 (FHD+) resulting in a pixel density of 408ppi. This display is capable of producing 800 nits peak brightness which is very impressive for which the smartphone is retailed. There is an under display fingerprint scanner for biometric unlock purposes which is of optical type.
The phone is slim at only 7.5mm thick and weighs only 164 grams. This is the Oppo F series’ slimmest and lightest phone yet. The display is of a 20:9 aspect ratio. There is a dual camera setup upfront inside an oval shaped cutout inside the screen. This makes the phone to have almost 90.7% screen to body ratio. The in display fingerprint scanner is also a pretty fast one which can unlock the phone in 0.3 seconds of time. There is USB Type-C 2.0 for connectivity and charging. It also supports USB OTG.
The battery that is powering the phone is a 4015mAh one. There is also 30W fast charging which oppo claims can charge the phone upto 50% in 30 minutes and upto 100% in 53 minutes. The fast charging technology used here is oppo’s VOOC 4.0. There is also a technology called AI Night charging. This technology can recognize if the phone is charged overnight and can complete the 100% charging at AI determined morning wake time. This can reduce the harshness of faster charging on battery and can in turn increase the battery life span.
The processing is handled by a Mediatek Helio P95 chipset which is a 12nm chipset. 12nm is not the market best, at this price range it is completely acceptable. This is an octa-core chipset two cores running at 2.2 GHz and another two cores running at 2.0 GHz. GPU operations is handled by PowerVR GM9446. There is a technology called MediaTek HyperEngine for Enhanced Gaming which ensures great touch feedback and network performance for heavy games. This combined with the UFS 2.1 storage, the gaming should be pretty smooth.
There is a quad camera setup on the back. The main sensor is a 48MP unit. It is accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide unit as well. Then there are two 2MP depth cameras which are useless, just for the sake of calling it a quad camera setup. The selfie camera is a 16MP unit capable of HDR shooting. There is AI portrait and AI stabilization for videos as well. The back of the phone is a matte finish plastic which is fingerprint resistant. The phone is available in Magic Blue, Matte Black and Metallic White color options. There is 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The phone is available for online purchase from oppo’s Indian website or from amazon.in for ₹ 21,490.
