Another new addition in the budget phone segment, the realme C21 is official now. The processor powering the phone is a Helio G35 and runs Android 10 based realme UI out of the box. There is 3GB RAM and 32Gb storage. The storage can further be expanded using a micro SD card slot, and it is a dedicated slot too. Micro SD cards upto 256GB can be used. There is a 6.5″ HD+ display with a teardrop notch. The notch houses a 5MP selfie camera. There is a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone for biometric authentication and unlock purposes.
Speaking of the back panel of the phone, it is a geometric art design and it is a fingerprint-resistant one too. The back of the phone comprises of a triple camera setup too. The primary shooter is a 13MP sensor. There is a 2MP macro and a 2MP monochrome sensors well, making them pretty useless, just for mere numbers. But these type of camera arrangement is usual for a budget phone in this category. But a better selfie camera would have been better in this selfie centric era for better quality video calls.
The realme C21 comes with a 5000mAh battery. Charging and connectivity are handled by a micro USB port. The phone supports reverse charging as well, that means it can be used as a portable power bank as well. The helio G35 chipset used in this phone is an octa core one. It has four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.3 GHz and another four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. The GPU operations are handled by PowerVR GE8320. This is a pretty decent performing chipset considering the average consumers of this phone. Heavy gaming performance should not be expected.
The phone is offered in two colors currently, Cross Black and Cross Blue. The phone is currently available in Malaysia only, other market launches are unknown. But an India launch should be expected shortly. $120 is the price tag in which the phone is currently sold in Malaysia through an online retailer Lazada. Similar pricing can be expected in India as well. This is a solid phone for the price in which it is offered. The budget segment is the most crowded segment in every smartphone markets, so standing out in the crowd is difficult. But the Realme C21is an awesome addition.
