New full-digital displays and several comfort and convenience features have been added to Mahindra’s redesigned XUV400 cabin. With prices starting at Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom), Mahindra has launched the XUV400 Pro range. Under the EC Pro and EL Pro models, the Pro variants essentially give the eSUV a new dashboard with twin displays and additional features. Sales of the SUV will start in February, and reservations are now open for a nominal fee of Rs 21,000.

Mahindra XUV400: new interior and features

The new 10.25-inch floating touchscreen is the main update for the XUV400, but it has forced a significant overhaul of the dashboard. Unlike the previous model, which had the AC vents flanking it on the sides, the new touchscreen now has them underlining it. The HVAC panel is also completely new – it now gets two rotary dials instead of a large central one, and there’s a new digital MID in between along with revised switchgear.

The all-black interior has also been replaced with a new black-and-beige dual-tone design; the passenger side of the dashboard now has a gloss black garnish, but the subtle copper accents have not changed. The steering wheel is also a new flat-bottom unit, and while the instrument binnacle is the same as before, there’s an all-new 10.25-inch digital screen replacing the analogue dials.

The redesigned XUV400 Pro’s two new screens now use the same Adrenox software as the XUV700, so it will function far better overall than the outdated 7.0-inch infotainment system that was previously available. Additional features added to the XUV400’s equipment list include rear USB ports, wireless phone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control with a memory function, and rear AC vents. The latter feature was greatly missed.

With features like ventilated front seats, a powered tailboard, 360-degree cameras, full-width LED light bands and an even larger infotainment screen on the top-spec variant, the Tata is still better equipped than the new Nexon EV, even with these updates.

Although the SUV’s exterior design remains unchanged, Nebula Blue is now an available colour. The SUV has undergone major interior modifications, including the addition of a 10.25-inch infotainment display with AdrenoX UI and a new instrument panel. This required rearranging the dashboard, including adding new air conditioning vents beneath the floating display. The dual-zone climate control system is enabled by the new HVAC controls, which consist of two dials with a digital display.

In addition, the switchgear has been updated. The black-beige dual-tone theme, which takes the place of the previous all-black theme, is another new feature for the XUV400. The copper accents are still present. Additionally new is the flat-bottom steering, which has copper threads sewn into the leather.

2024 Mahindra XUV400 Pro: Technology

The twin displays, which are found in the XUV700 and the Scorpio N, are powered by Mahindra’s AdrenoX user interface. The older system has been replaced by these two displays, the infotainment display of which has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. One noteworthy characteristic of the instrument panel is its ability to run navigation—and it can do so in full-screen mode—just like the Tata Nexon.ev, the Mahindra’s main rival.

Additional technology available with the XUV400 addresses several of the car’s shortcomings and includes a wireless smartphone charger, Alexa voice assistant, rear AC vents, and rear USB ports.

2024 Mahindra XUV400 Pro: Powertrain

The Mahindra XUV400 Pro is essentially a feature update, so the car’s mechanics remain the same. The SUV’s 34.5kWh and 39.4kWh battery packs are still in place. However, the update makes the top-spec EL Pro available with both battery packs, making the fully feature-loaded trim more affordable. The smaller battery pack is still available for the EC Pro.

Using the MIDC cycle, Mahindra claims a range of 375 km for the smaller battery pack and 456 km for the larger pack.Throughout model range, the same 150 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque are produced by a front-axle mounted e-motor, translating into a quick 8.3 seconds from 0 to 100 kmph.
