2024 Kia Sonet facelift, a competitor to the Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Brezza, launched in India for Rs 7.99 lakh

The eagerly anticipated 2024 Kia Sonet introduced by Kia. The vehicle’s most expensive model costs Rs 15.69 lakh (ex-showroom). The compact SUV faces competition from the likes of the Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Tata Nexon in its updated form.Three engine options are available for powertrains: the 1.5-liter CRDi VGT diesel (116PS/250Nm), the Smartstream G1.0-liter T-Gdi petrol (120PS/172Nm), and the Smartstream G1.2-liter petrol (83PS/115Nm). Six-speed MT, 6-speed iMT, and 7-speed DCT with 1.0 turbocharged gasoline, and six-speed MT, six-speed iMT, and six-speed AT with 1.5 diesel are the available gearbox options.

2024 Kia Sonet engine
Three well-known engine options will be available for the 2024 Kia Sonet: a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated diesel, a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol and a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol. A single 5-speed manual gearbox is the only available option for the 1.2-liter gasoline engine. A 7-speed DCT gearbox and an iMT gearbox are the two available gearbox options for the 1.0-liter turbo-petrol. Three different 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, and 6-speed automatic gearbox (AT) options are available for the 1.5-liter diesel.

Along with new LED headlamps and taillamps, the redesign includes a new grille and new front and rear bumper designs. There’s a new 16-inch alloy wheel design with crystal cuts. There are numerous versions available with different exterior and interior designs. For example, some trims have matte paint, black interior trim, and black upholstery with red stitching.

More than 70 connectivity features are available with the 2024 Kia Sonet, such as Find My Car, a surround view monitor that shows the area around the car, and a voice command feature that can understand “Hinglish.” For added passenger comfort, the Sonet has power windows with one-touch automatic up/down and rear window sunshades. In addition, the Sonet features touchscreen navigation, two 10.25-inch screens for the centre console and instrument cluster, and LED ambient lighting.

2024 Kia Sonet cost and competitors
There are numerous engine, gearbox, and trim option options available for the 2024 Sonet. The starting price range for the 1.2-liter gasoline is between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 9.89 lakh ex-showroom. The top-of-the-line X-line variant with the 7-speed DCT costs between Rs 10.49 lakh and Rs 14.69 lakh ex-showroom for the 1.0-liter turbo-petrol. The most costly engine available is the 1.5-liter diesel, which starts at Rs 9.79 lakh and goes up to Rs 15.69 lakh ex-showroom for the top-of-the-line, 6-speed AT-equipped X-line.The 2024 Kia Sonet update will undercut the Tata Nexon by about Rs 10,000 after its facelift (Rs 8.09 lakh ex-showroom). Hyundai Venue, a stablemate that starts at Rs 7.94 lakh ex-showroom.priced marginally less than the Sonet, is another significant competitor. With its higher starting price of Rs 8.29 lakh ex-showroom, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is significantly less feature- and technology-rich than its rival.
