Today, Kinetic Green unveiled the E-Luna, an electric version of the Luna, with an initial retail price of Rs 69,990 (ex-showroom). Over 40,000 customers contacted Kinetic Green about the electric two-wheeler when bookings for the E-Luna opened on January 26.

With a target market of both urban and rural residents, Kinetic Green hopes to sell one million E-Lunas by the year 2025. The total cost of ownership for an E-Luna, according to the company, would be less than Rs 2,500 per month. The 150 kg payload capacity E-Luna, according to Kinetic Green, was entirely designed and engineered in India. A 2.2kW BLDC mid-mount motor and a 2kWh lithium-ion battery with an IP67 rating power the E-Luna. The electric two-wheeler features interchangeable battery options and fast-charging battery technology.

The E-Luna can travel up to 110 kilometres on a single full charge, but its maximum speed is 50 kilometres per hour. It takes four hours to fully charge its battery. Future options for the E-Luna’s battery pack include 1.7kWh and 3.0kWh, according to the company.

High-strength steel, dual-tubular chassis serves as the foundation for the E-Luna. The front of the electric two-wheeler has telescopic forks, and its 16-inch wheels support it. It also has a combi-braking system.

E-Luna features

The E-Luna features a digital instrument panel and a CAN-enabled communications protocol. Three riding modes, a detachable rearseat, a USB charging port, and a side stand sensor are among the other noteworthy features.

“I am pleased to announce that the E-Luna is entirely designed and manufactured in India! Arun Firodia, Chairman of the Kinetic Group, added, “We are also happy to announce that the entire Kinetic Group has supported the E-Luna development.”

Kinetic Engineering, Kinetic Communications, and Kinetic Electric Motor Company, among other companies in our group, have developed key components, including the chassis, gearbox, digital cluster, smart controller, and motor of the E-Luna trademark. “I am really happy with the result. The Kinetic Green team has worked incredibly hard over the last three years on the development of the E-Luna,” he continued.

The market for electric vehicles is very popular right now (EVs). However, even though there are a lot of them, a lot of them are either appropriate for a broad range of audiences or too expensive for a wide range of audiences. Therefore, e-mobility is extremely specialised and makes up only 5% of the two-wheeler market overall. With its features, I believe E-Luna can appeal to a larger demographic. In addition to tier 1 cities, it can also serve tier 2 and 3 cities, said Motwani.

colour options

Mulberry Red, Pearl Yellow, Night Star Black, Ocean Blue, and Sparkling Green are the five colour options available for the E-Luna. Nationwide delivery of it will soon begin. It will be accessible on Flipkart and Amazon as well.Over the next 12 to 15 months, Kinetic Green intends to invest Rs 100 crore in this model’s product development, branding, marketing, etc. Of that, almost Rs 20 crore has been set aside for the construction of a 5 lakh E2W (including E-Luna) capacity facility at Supa in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, specifically for this model.

According to the CEO of Kinetic Green, the business intends to broaden the E-Luna platform to serve a variety of market niches. But she insisted, “We would still be focused on the vertical scooter. We do not currently have any intentions to enter the electric motorcycle market.

Sulajja Firodia Motwani, the founder and CEO of Kinetic Green, noted that the E-Luna goes above and beyond typical electric vehicle products. It is intended for both personal and commercial use. “Symbolising innovation and minimalistic yet futuristic user-centric design, the E-Luna is fully made in India and designed for Bharat, reflecting our commitment to a sustainable, equitable, and progressive future,” she stated.

Sales target

The Pune-based EV manufacturer hopes to quadruple its revenue from the current Rs 350 crore to Rs 1,200 crore by FY 25 and plans to sell more than 1 lakh electric Luna vehicles in the upcoming fiscal year. The business anticipates that the Luna segment alone will generate about Rs 800 crore in revenue for the upcoming fiscal year.At a press conference, Motwani informed reporters, “We are targeting to sell 1 lakh units of E-Luna next fiscal as we expect the company turnover to touch Rs 1,200 crore next year.”
