When Air India Flight AI 589 took off on schedule from Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, almost all of the passengers were excited to fly on the redesigned Air India.On Monday, Air India launched its first-ever commercial Airbus A350-900 from Bengaluru to Mumbai, marking a momentous occasion. The flight not only marks the start of A350 scheduled services, but it also unveils the new unique Air India livery.
Nearly all of the passengers on board Flight AI 589, which left on schedule from Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, were excited to take a look at the redesigned Air India.
The public was given a sneak peek at the A350’s in-flight entertainment (IFE) system and distinctive amenities during the recent Wings India Global Aviation Summit in Hyderabad, giving them a taste of what to expect from an improved travel experience.AI 589 is scheduled to depart Bengaluru at 7.05 a.m. and arrive in Mumbai at 8.50 a.m. It runs every day except Tuesday. The aircraft will be used for crew familiarisation and regulatory compliance by first being flown on domestic routes.
Passengers between Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai will be able to experience the state-of-the-art technology on board the A350 during this phase.
In the next stage, the A350 will be used for long-haul international flights, adding to Air India’s expanding wide-body fleet that consists of both recently leased and owned aircraft. Included in Air India’s massive order of 470 new aircraft that was placed less than a year ago is the A350-900.
A350-900 Airbus features
The A350 has 316 seats spread across three classes in its cabin configuration: 28 private Business suites with fully flat beds, 24 Premium Economy seats with more legroom and extra amenities, and 264 roomy Economy seats.
The most recent Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment system and HD screens are included with every seat. With Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines powering it, the A350 has an astounding 20% more fuel efficiency than comparable aircraft, which helps with lower fuel emissions and more environmentally friendly operations.
Air India took delivery of its first Airbus A350-900, registered as VT-JRA, at Delhi’s IGI airport on December 23, 2023. Air India’s ambitious order for 470 aircraft was launched with this, with a new aircraft expected to arrive every six days until the end of 2024.
