Instant Slow-Mo for videos is one of the Galaxy S24 series’ many innovative and useful features. It can use AI-powered frame generation to convert nearly any regular video into a slow-motion video. Although it was unclear if the feature would be available for older Galaxy phones, Samsung has now stated that it will be available for current smartphones and tablets.

Samsung intends to upgrade its older high-end devices with the Instant Slow-Mo feature, which made its debut on the Galaxy S24, according to a moderator on the company’s Community Forum. The Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Tab S9 series, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Z Fold 5 will all get the new feature. Additionally, the moderator disclosed that Samsung plans to enhance this feature in the future by adding support for 480p resolution videos (which are currently restricted from 720p to 8K), 10-bit videos (which are currently limited to 8-bit videos), and the.mov video file format (which is currently restricted to.mp4 files).

  • Galaxy S23+
  • Galaxy S23 Ultra

Samsung has stated that the Instant Slow-Mo feature will only be available on phones with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or higher-end chipsets, as this feature requires a strong GPU and NPU. The company states that for 60 frames per second videos, this feature must react in 16.6 milliseconds, and that speed is only consistently achievable on more recent high-end phones.

Samsung’s latest in-built video editor allows users to edit videos and apply Instant Slow-Mo effects. The aforementioned older phones will soon get this feature. The feature will probably be included in the next One UI 6.1 update, though Samsung hasn’t made that completely clear. The One UI 6.1 update will be made available to current, qualified smartphones and tablets before the end of the first half of 2024, per the company’s earlier statement.

You can share instant slow-motion videos on social media platforms or messaging apps. You can also convert regular videos into slow-motion videos and share them with others. The Super Slow-Mo feature, which allowed for 720p 960 frames per second video recording, was removed from the Samsung Galaxy S24. However, the company has since stated that 4K 120 frames per second videos can be produced in a similar manner by using Instant Slow-Mo to slow them down even further. In-depth instructions on utilising the Instant Slow-Mo feature are provided in the video below.
