In anticipation of the release of its most expensive motorcycle, Hero has unveiled a new teaser that offers a glimpse of the new Mavrick 440’s design aesthetic. The teaser confirms that, as previously seen, the round headlight will house an H-shaped Daytime Running Lamp, which is now a Hero hallmark.Even though it will have many of the same parts as the X440, there will also be some significant differences. To begin with, a spy photo of the planned motorcycle surfaced recently, revealing that it will have a telescopic fork instead of the Harley’s inverted unit.

This strongly suggests that the Hero machine will be priced below the X440, which is currently priced between Rs 2.40 lakh-2.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It was only a matter of time after the Harley-Davidson X440 was introduced before Hero entered the race with their own rival. According to the recently leaked sketches, the Mavrick 440 will likely sport a neo-retro style thanks to its circular headlamp and what appears to be a daytime running light. The Maverick 440 could have a fairly neutral riding position due to its upright handlebars, making it comfortable for both city commuting and long rides.

The drawings also show a broad, one-piece seat that narrows towards the front of the bike, possibly sacrificing some extra cushioning to make the bike more manageable for riders with shorter legs. The Mavrick 440’s suspected test mules have been spotted wearing camouflage on Indian streets. They have a single exhaust system that is powered by a single cylinder. In addition, they have a trellis frame, front and rear disc brakes, and a twin shock rear suspension system with alloy rims. Given its 440 designation, the Mavrick may be using the engine from the Harley-Davidson X440, which produces 37Nm at 4000 rpm and 27bhp at 6000 rpm. According to Harley-Davidson, the engine produces 90% of its torque as early as 2000 rpmWhether that low-end grunt is carried over to the Maverick 440.

Another observation we made was that the silencer on the Mavrick appeared to be smaller and more aesthetically pleasing than the one on the X440, which is larger and less elegant. Hero recently unveiled a teaser for the Mavrick exhaust note, which has a faster beat with more rasp than thump. The Mavrick 440 will go up against a crowded field of heavyweight rivals at launch, including the Harley-Davidson X440 and the Triumph 400 twins. The KTM 390 Duke, a bike that is in a class of its own, the Honda CB350 triplets, the Royal Enfield Bullet and Classic 350, and other bikes could be competitors. Hero has never offered a motorcycle with a capacity this great. Its partnership with Harley-Davidson and their experience building larger motorcycles is sure to help. Whether that translates into the spec Mavrick 400 remains.
