In India in 2023, the BMW iX sold 694 units, making it the best-selling premium electric vehicle.As it continues to dominate the premium electric car market, BMW Group India today announced its best-ever annual sales figures for 2023 across all three brands: BMW, Mini, and BMW Motorrad.BMW increased its year-over-year (y-o-y) sales to 13,303 units in 2023. With a sales share of 54% compared to 46% for sedans, sport utility vehicles (SUVs), also known as sport activity vehicles (SAVs) by the company, dominated the market.
With 2,633 sales, the BMW X1 was the company’s best-selling SUV in 2023. The BMW X7 came in second with 1,513 sales. With 2,702 sold, the BMW 3 Series was the best-selling sedan.BMW claimed that it had a share of more than 50% in the luxury electric car segment in 2023 with sales of 1,474 units, logging a growth of 325% y-o-y. With 694 sold, the BMW iX was the year’s best-selling luxury electric vehicle.In 2023, Mini’s sales climbed by 22% year over year to 869 units. The brand’s best-selling model was the locally built Mini Countryman, which sold 478 units; the electric Mini 3-Door Cooper SE, on the other hand, sold 239 units and was the best-selling premium electric hatchback in India during the year.
Sales of all vehicles sold in India by BMW Group, including Mini and BMW, increased 18% year over year to 14,172 units.BMW Motorrad had yet another outstanding year in 2023, with motorcycle sales jumping 20% year over year to 8,768 units. The core bike range, which is available as fully built-up units, contributed with 1,030 units at 12% share, while the BMW G 310 range contributed with sales of 7,738 units at 88% share.”For BMW Group India, 2023 has been a record-breaking milestone year. Sales of BMW Electric Vehicles
For the second consecutive year, BMW Group Electric Vehicles (EV) maintained its top spot in the luxury market with 1,474 units, a three-fold increase. In India, the BMW iX continues to be the most popular luxury electric car. The BMW Group, which offers the most adaptable lineup of vehicles, including the BMW i7, BMW iX, BMW i4, BMW iX1, and MINI SE, continues to rule the luxury electric market. The first-ever BMW i7 and BMW iX1 launches increased the excitement even more. User confidence was greatly enhanced by the BMW Group dealer network’s 35 cities’ robust premium charging infrastructure. The best-selling premium electric hatchback in the nation is the MINI 3 Door Cooper SE.
Sales of BMW ICE Vehicles
The BMW Luxury Class, which comprises the BMW X7, BMW i7, BMW 7 Series, and BMW XM, increased by +88%. The BMW 7 Series’ victory as the “Premium Car Award 2024” at the esteemed Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) awards highlighted its dominance as the best-in-class vehicle.
The appeal of the seven BMW Sports Activity Vehicles (SAV), which accounted for 54% of annual sales volume, was enhanced by the ‘Power of Choice,’ which includes petrol, diesel and electric drivetrains. Sales of SAVs increased by +24% to reach a record high. The new X1, which contributed 20% of total sales, was the best-selling SAV. The X7 asserted the second-highest delivery position. With a 20% sales share, the new BMW 3 Series was the best-selling sedan.
MINI Sales in India
With a 55% market share, the locally made MINI Countryman was the most popular model. The electric MINI 3-Door Cooper SE saw a more than twofold increase in sales, rising to the position of second-best-selling MINI model with 28%.
Increased Sales for BMW Motorrad India By 19%
BMW G 310 models continued to hold an 88% market share in sales, showing an impressive growth of +19%. The growth for the core bikes that are available as fully assembled units was +33%. Growth among core models was mostly driven by the premium GS adventure and RR sports market.
