What Is Bing Chat?
It’s likely that you are already familiar with Microsoft Bing, a search engine that was introduced in 2009 to rival Google. Microsoft updated the search engine in February 2023 with AI-generated search results, which are what’s new. It is driven by GPT-4, ChatGPT’s most sophisticated AI model, which was made possible by Microsoft’s rumoured $10 billion OpenAI investment.
How to Access?
The standard link-based search results are still Bing’s first and default menu option. Navigate to the top menu bar, select Chat instead of Search, to access Bing Chat. Microsoft provides a brief sample of the AI-generated results for your search query to persuade you to conduct it on desktop. A Let’s Chat button allows you to proceed to the complete chatbot offering if you like it.
Features
- Top citations of every chatbot we’ve tried
- retrieves current data from the internet
- Powered by the GPT-4 model from OpenAI
- A free picture sources
- Three ways to have conversations
Cost!
As long as you have a Microsoft account, Bing Chat is free. In return, you must view advertisements in some of the answers and your feedback helps train the AI.With a Google account, you may utilise Google Bard for free as well. There is a $20 monthly ChatGPT Plus tier in addition to the “research preview,” which is available for free on ChatGPT. You can try the more sophisticated model, GPT-4, with Bing for free, if you pay an additional $20.
Bing Uses GPT-4
There was a web browser capability in ChatGPT Plus, but OpenAI deactivated it when they found out people were exploiting it to get around paywalls. Although the feature performed so poorly in my testing that I would still advise using Bing Chat or Bard, the firm intends to bring it back.
The maximum number of exchanges you can have with GPT-4 is 30, on Bing Chat, and 50 on ChatGPT. This applies to both ChatGPT and Bing Chat. Although both are sufficient for occasional use, longer or professional projects can require more. However, you may always start a new topic to increase the amount of conversations you can have. However, doing so erases the history of the previous conversations, so you might need to review or reiterate some points.
Bing Talks Straight to the Point
Whichever discussion option you choose, Bing Chat typically provides more succinct and direct responses than ChatGPT or Google Bard. Even when requested to write an essay, Bing limits responses to about 100 words (more on that below). It appears that the objective is to deliver information in an understandable and succinct manner rather than seizing every chance to highlight the breadth of its vocabulary and source material. It certainly has access to a vast corpus of data including the full corpus of English language, but it holds back.
The Finest AI Chatbot Citations
When it comes to how an AI tool can properly cite the data it gathers from scraping to provide a response, Bing Chat sets the bar. The footnote at the end of most sentences provides a link to the source. It is more reliable because of their references. It’s difficult to believe what other chatbots tell you at face value, and ChatGPT is by far the worst. Bard’s citation distribution lies in the middle of the two. For the majority of responses, it seems to mention its sources; nevertheless, these frequently contain incorrect sources.
With its strong GPT-4 AI model and steady source citations, Bing Chat builds credibility and is well worth a try. Though it frequently provides flimsy responses that can sway you towards a standard search engine, it is less humane than its rivals.Microsoft has added Bing Chat, a generative artificial intelligence function, to its Bing search engine.
Using OpenAI’s potent GPT-4 AI model, it responds to your questions with a paragraph summary and allows you to ask more questions to fine-tune the outcome. Though this idea is comparable to that of rivals ChatGPT and Google Bard, Bing Chat stands out from the other two because to its reliable source citations, making it the most reliable option. You can always carry out additional independent research or click a footnote to verify the information.
